Privacy Policy
Last updated July 8, 2026
VOR ("we", "us") makes voice-to-text software for Mac, iPhone, and Chrome. This policy explains what we collect, what we do not, and how your voice and text are handled. Plain language, no games.
The short version
VOR records your voice only while you are actively dictating. That audio is sent to be transcribed into text and returned to you. We do not sell your data, we do not show ads, and we do not build a profile on you. Your transcription history is stored locally on your own device, not on our servers.
What we collect
Voice audio. When you hold the dictation key and speak, VOR captures that audio and sends it to our transcription provider (OpenAI) to convert it to text. Audio is used only to produce your transcription and is not retained by us after the text is returned.
Transcribed text. The resulting text is placed into whatever app you are using and saved to a local history on your own device. We do not receive a copy of your history.
Account and billing data. If you subscribe, our payment processors (Apple for the iOS app, Stripe for the web and desktop) handle your payment details. We never see or store your full card number.
Basic diagnostics. We may collect anonymous crash and error information to keep the app working. This is not tied to your identity.

What we do NOT collect
We do not collect your contacts, location, browsing history, or the contents of apps you use VOR in beyond the text you dictate. We do not track you across other apps or websites. We do not sell or rent your data to anyone.
How your voice is processed
To turn speech into text, your audio is transmitted securely to OpenAI's transcription and formatting APIs. OpenAI processes it to return your text and, per their API terms, does not use API data to train their models. Once your text is returned, the audio is discarded. You can review OpenAI's policies at openai.com.
Where your data lives
Your dictation history and settings are stored locally on your device (in the app on Mac and iPhone, and in Chrome's local storage for the extension). Deleting the app, or clearing history in settings, removes it. Your OpenAI or license key, where applicable, is stored securely on your device and is never shared with us.
Children
VOR is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Your choices
You control when VOR listens — it only records while you hold the key or press record. You can clear your history at any time in settings, and uninstalling the app removes local data. For any data request, email us at the address below.
Changes
If we update this policy, we will change the date above and, for material changes, note it in the app or on this page.
